Developers are usually required to perform Noise
Assessment for
their development
projects. Noise
assessment
frequently
comprises of
Desktop Studies,
Data Collection,
Computer Modeling
and EPD
Consultation.
Desktop Studies
Information on site condition,
surrounding
environment and
development plan
is gathered to
locate the
existing and
potential noise
sources.
Data Collection
Data such as traffic flow pattern,
location of
sensitive
receptors, vehicle
types and
distribution,
current and
background noise
levels, etc. is
gathered on site.
Computer Modeling
CRTN is the computer software
utilized for
predicting traffic
noise levels at
different
sensitive
receptors. The
software assists
in predicting the
noise levels in
different site
conditions and at
different building
orientations.
EPD Consultation
The results of the modeling
are analyzed and
compiled in a
report and
submitted to the
Environmental
Protection
Department for
approval. |
